Laughlines Director/Actor Michael Wilson-Green was interviewed by Jimmy Carol on the Jimmy Carol Show, BBC Radio Sheffield last week on his Sunday show.  Jimmy always has a section on his Sunday show which is dominated by comedy and interviewing interesting people.

Michael had the opportunity of plugging the up and coming events booked at the Garrison Hotel in Sheffield including their hilarious tribute to Father Ted and Fawlty Towers shows.  Laughlines performed Father Ted on Friday 03rd September and again it proved to be a thoroughly entertaining evening with huge groups of the audience coming over after the show taking photographs and giving us wonderful feedback…they loved it!

I actually thought that my Irish accent was pretty basic but after listneing to Jimmy’s attempt live on air last week, it must have made mine sound great…keep practising Jimmy! It was great fun talking about the Father Ted tribute show and how it all got started, where we perform it and how it is recieved etc…

The show actually has a bigger following than you can imagine…and covers a massive age group from late teens to people well in their seventies.  It is actually one of my mothers favourite comedy’s of all time and she is eighty this year!

The next Father Ted show is on Friday 24th September at Wakefield Town Hall, Wakefield… Don’t miss this rare treat! 

Laughlines Director and actor Michael Wilson-Green was interviewed last week on the Stephanie Abrams Travellers 411 Radio Show.  Stephanie was intrigued about Laughlines and in particularly our Fawlty Towers tribute show which we were performing on the 07th and 08th August at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel this year.  The Hotel is famous regarding it’s history as the house used to be a post for senior marines and officers in the second world war, they were stationed there to stop any German U boats attacking Europe through the North Atlantic.  The hotel is also famed for visits from powerful people including, Teddy Kennedy and Bill & Hilary Clinton who stayed there while in power as Presidents!

Michael was asked about how the company started up 13 years ago and general questions about the Fawlty Tower show.  After performing the Fawlty Towers show at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel the team yet again received a standing ovation and encores to come back!   It was an amazing show which was attended by a wonderful interactive audience.

Laughlines next performance at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel is at Christmas where Laughlines will be offering up festive versions of Fawlty Towers and Father Ted  on the 14th 15th and 16th December.  Advice is to book early as they sell out very quickly!

We are pleased to extend our thanks and welcome all actors who have recently started working for Laughlines.  Hello and welcome to Alexandra Little, Director, Actor and fashion model, Alex has been in many famous commercials and acted on screen and in theatre, she is bubbly, vibrant and witty, she recently performed the role of Sybil Fawlty at the Hotel Gleneagles in Torquay and by the end of the night was found skinny dipping in the pool with Basil & Manuel…hilarious…

Thank you to Guy Press, Johnny Hansler and Vickie Holden…Guy has performed in Laughlines comedy waiters, comedy paparazzi photographers, comedy murder mysteries and more recently as Manuel in our Fawlty Towers tribute show.  Johnny Hansler is an old hand and has played Basil Fawlty on numerous occasions with stunning effect, the feedback has been brilliant and he continues to excel as this character!  Johnny Hansler is famed for his role as Peter Cook in ‘The After life of  Cook & Moore’ which won critics acclaim.  Vickie Holden has recently joined up and played Sybil Fawlty and has made an encouraging start…  Other popular Laughlines actors who need a mention include, Ruth Urqhart, Nicola Vincent, Gemma Hepworth, Robin Simpson and Alan Brent, we look forward to working with all of them on many more events!

Laughlines often perform for charity’s around the country and the Break Cancer Charity is no exception.  On Friday 25th June Laughlines are performing a Fawlty Towers event at the Norfolk Show Ground in Norwich.  Favourite characters including Basil Fawlty, Sybil Fawlty, Manuel, Polly and the Major will be providing comedy entertainment in a marquee the size of an aircraft hanger.

Nine hundred guests are attending  the event a week next Friday and they will be in for some special treatment from the Laughlines crew!  The team will be obviously need powerful sound equipment for this one and will have tie clip mics and hand held microphones to address and impress the crowds.

This will be the biggest sell out charity event that we have attended and performed at in our history, so we are really looking froward to it, but also the fact that we will hopefully encourage to raise a vast amount of money for the charity.

Laughlines performed their brand new ABBA themed night, Mamma Mia It’s Murder, last Friday at Crathorne Hall Hotel in Yarm.  The event was a massive success with wonderful comments after the show.

The client was ABB Engineering Services, a regular and important customer to our company, we wanted to not just give them a fabulous fun night of entertainment, but to provide them with an impressive room and lasting memories!  We did just that…guests arrived at 7.00pm prompt, the clouds had dissapeared and the sun was shining brightly, the band were playing ABBA tunes in the background and Laughlines ABBA characters were meandering their way around the guests in the beautiful gardens.

The function room was dressed in a very 1970’s funky fashion mixed with contemporary lighting…LED’s spots and wildtech lights providing colourful moving images.  The tables were various colours all coordinated to create a brilliant effect!

The Laughlines team presented the audience with an array of comedy and songs singing live they belted out tunes from the past including, Portaloo, their first ever hit, which was about Benny being stuck in a Portaloo and then Super Dooper (A tribute to the Swedish Super Dooper Bra) and finally Mamma Mia!  Some of the Laughlines actors came back as the Gee Gees the tribute act to the Bee Gees (Rank outsiders)   and sang ‘How Deep is Your Glove’ this song was revolving around Barry Gobb and his finger fetish!!!

Joining the Gee Gees was the tribute act to Alvin Stardust Alvin Sawdust (A carpenter from Swansea) who sang ‘My Crooked Screw’

Anyway someone got murdered of course and the whodunit began…awards were given out for the best solution to the murder and the best limerick competition and and a special Oscar for the best contributing actor was presented to Hugh Janus Manager of Bjorn Again Again, the tribute band to the tribute band to ABBA!  ”Confused…bloody hell, I am”…

We finished with a themed casino night…this certainly was one of those unforgettable evenings and not just due to the fact that it had been a 19 hour working day, but to the fact that I had enjoyed the entertainment just as much as everyone else.

It is so nice to have past clients call on us for more entertainment, recently we have had many a call from people who have booked us years ago and then approach us to entertain at their company events or book us privately for a Birthday or wedding celebration!  These clients have been so valuable as they also recommend Laughlines to business associates and friends…  Laughlines have always relied on recommendation and it certainly is the best form of business!

A past client phoned me today, we entertained her at her 40th Birthday bash around 5 years ago and now we are to entertain at their company Summer ball.

Fond memories for all of us, but also the opportunity to have more fun & laughs in the near future!

Laughlines were recently requested to entertain at a corporate event last week at The Vineyard, in Newbury, Berkshire, an award winning hotel and restaurant.  The Laughlines Fawlty Towers team gave a group of International oil companies an evening to remember.  Most of the VIP delegates were from all over the globe including America, Canada, Norway, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia, presidents and vice presidents attended (No… not President Obama… presidents of the oil companies)

After the first initial shock of Basil Fawlty appearing in the bar everyone started to enjoy classic sketches and a full on interactive comedy night…Well, the presidents must have enjoyed it as they were buying us drinks in the bar all night and couldn’t stop talking about the show.

Another great audience and very interesting people…many thanks to Masquerade Productions who booked us with their clients, we hope to work with you on many other events.

Pity I didn’t get the grand suite to stay in - it was just for changing into costume etc…. but we ended up in a lovely bed and breakfast down the road, breakfast consisted of one small piece of bacon, an extra runny egg and a chipolata sausage about the size of a twigglet!   Never mind I had a packet of hula hoops in the car and a bag of M & S mint crumbles for on the way home!  I should be on flipping commission here, naming all these company brands!!

Laughlines planned mini trip to the Beech Hill Country House Hotel,  Derry, was recently re-scheduled to Friday 06th and Saturday 07th August.  Friday 06th is our ever popular tribute to Fawlty Towers and Saturday 07th is the hilarious Father Ted show.  The journey kicks off with a Father Ted show in Letterkenny , Donegal at the Best Western Milford Inn, on Thursday 05th August.

Th volcano saga triggered the date move due to Ryan Air cancelling our flights…well, no worries, August is a lovely time of year and we are really looking forward to going there this Summer.  Big audiences are expected as usual.  Last year the amazing John Duddy - the WBA middleweight world champion boxer attended the Laughlines Fawlty Towers event at Beech Hill Hotel and loved it, that reminds me, I must give him a call to see if he is coming over to see the Father Ted show!

Laughlines performed their famous original Fawlty Towers tribute show in Harrogate last week at the Crown Hotel.  Again we were blessed with a full house and it sure was  an amazing evening.  These events are tending to get booked up a couple of months in advance now, so early booking with Superbreak is recommended.

Amoung our guests is a past corporate client of Laughlines who could not resist booking in for some Fawlty fun!

It is nice to do something local without a tiring drive,  so all the cast were bounding with energy - saying that we always are I suppose…last week we went to Torquay, we drove 6 hours, turned up at the hotel, set up the sound equipment and tested it and then got changed and did a three hour full on show and still talked with the guests until 2.30am…then back up at 8.30am for breakfast and a 6 hour drive home…Easy! (Only took two days to recover)
