Terry Jones, one of the creators of the infamous comedy show Monty Python, has recently spoken to Day & Night about being a father again. According to the writer and comedian, he has become acclimatised to being a parent at the age of 69, although he has had to get used to not having as much spare time.
Jones joined forces with Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and John Cleese, who is also well known for other comedy shows like Fawlty Towers. Together they created Monty Python which progressed to a TV series, films, stage shows and a musical. Jones has three children from his previous marriage to Alison Telfer. His current partner is Anna Soderstrom, who is a Swedish graduate aged 29. Together they have a toddler, Siri aged two years old.
When asked about the effect of having another child, Jones states that he has less time for himself as he spends more time with his daughter in the evenings. Although she had a phase of waking and getting into her parent’s bed, she now settles throughout the night. Jones has had to cope with accusations of being selfish for having a child at his age. In response, he said:
“Having a child who’ll be loved, to parents who love each other, is the important thing. I’ve a reasonable chance of living another 20 years and hope I do, so Siri will be in her 20s.”
In addition to being a musician, author, composer, film director and much more, Jones has put his name to myhealthtips.com, a health website.
